Fox saves Bray in second half
May 28, 2006
Premier Division Bray Wanderers needed to come from behind twice – including a last-gasp equalizer from Stephen Fox deep into injury-time – to preserve their FAI Carlsberg Cup hopes against Kildare County of the First Division on Friday night.
Fox popped up to head past Brendan Kennedy in the visitors’ goal in the fourth minute of injury time to force a replay at Station Road next week.
Darren McKenna put the underdogs in front after 16 minutes and for a long time that looked set to send Kildare through to the last 16.
But Bray levelled midway through the second half when Colm Tresson finished to the net after a Robbie Doyle corner.
Kildare were back in front within eight minutes through Stephen Cooling’s free kick, but Fox saved Bray’s bacon with his late, late header.
