Williams makes Bray move
February 2, 2007
Eircom League title-winning goalkeeper Steve Williams has signed for Bray Wanderers on a free transfer.
Williams’s contract at Shelbourne expired at the end of the club’s championship-winning season in November.
He had been willing to sign a new deal at the club but the ongoing financial crisis which has stripped Shels of its entire senior playing roster finally prompted the Welshman to move on.
The 32-year-old spent time with Coventry, Cardiff and Notts County in his youth but has been in the eircom League for the past ten years, first joining Dundalk in 1997 before moving on to Shels in 1999. He won four eircom League crowns with the Tolka Park club.
