Wicklow's goal spree sinks Antrim
February 8, 2007
Wicklow 4-9
Antrim 1-10
Wicklow continued their onward march under Mick O'Dwyer when they claimed their third scalp from four starts in their opening Division 2B game at Aughrim.
Antrim were still very much in the hunt up to half time, trailing 1-5 to 0-6, but then they were blown out of the water by Wicklow who had a terrific start to the second half.
And it was Tommy Gill who delivered the first two killer blows to the northerners. The second half was seconds old when Gill drilled home his first goal and from the kick out Wicklow attacked again, Paul Earls fed Gill who punched home his second goal.
Ten minutes later Wicklow's star wing-forward Jacko Dalton drilled an unstoppable shot to the roof of the Antrim net to open up a 4-7 to 0-7 lead to end the game as a contest.
