Bray Wanderers Allocated a Further €115,000

This funding will go towards Phase 2 of development at the club and will provide for the construction of changing rooms, over basement, with terracing and retaining walls and the Installation of a canopy to cover seating. This funding is a top-up of the €385,000 allocated under the Sports Capital Grants scheme earlier this year. This brings the total funding allocated to Bray Wanders under this programme to €1,129m approx.

"This Government is absolutely committed to providing the necessary funding to meet the sporting requirements of all people including athletes and supporters. This brings the cumulative spend since 1999 from the Government's Sports Capital Grants Scheme in Wicklow to in excess of €10 million Euro.

Speaking today Minister Roche said, "This is a very welcome boost for Bray Wanderers Football Club and their supporters. These improved facilities will allow the club to meet UEFA Licensing regulations, an essential requirement if the club is to start competing at the top level as we all wish."

The Department of Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs has allocated up to 30% top-up funding to successful RAPID projects that were endorsed by the RAPID Area Implementation Team. This top-up funding is subject to overall public funding not exceeding 80% of project cost or the amount originally requested by the organisation
