’Extent of indiscipline in Wicklow overstated’ - ref
November 9, 2006
The referee involved in the recent Wicklow Intermediate Hurling Championship semi-final clash between St. Patrick’s and Glenealy says the lot of the men in black in the Garden County has actually got easier in recent years.
Con O’Ceadaigh sent off three players in the match but stressed that it was the violence that flared after the match that has caused all the headlines.
O’Ceadaigh believes that the incidences of on-field indiscipline in Wicklow are dwindling.
"You’ll always gete the lad at the end of a game who says you should have been wearing the other team’s jersey or to get your eyes tested but that’s usually only one perosn and I’ve never been put off," O’Ceadaigh revealed.
"There’s also 400 or more matches in Wicklow every season but people only hear about the one or two where there’s trouble," the match official added.
