Flare-up follows Wicklow hurling match
October 31, 2006
The Wicklow GAA County Board looks set to launch an investigation into reports that fighting flared between rival factions after a Wicklow IHC semi-final at Arklow.
The rows between St. Patrick’s and Glenealy parties began in the car park after the game and one car was damaged.
The match itself was a fractious encounter with Glenealy’s Robert Byrne dismissed shortly after the start of the second half while St. Patrick’s were down to 13 players after the sending off of John D O’Brien and Paul Murphy.
The teams must meet again after they drew 1-8 to 0-11.
