Mitchell looking forward to the hurling season
January 6th, 2007
New Wicklow hurling manager John Mitchell, certainly does not regard taking on the job as being a poisoned chalice but rather as a job of work to be done and he cannot wait to get started on inter-county action.
John has made a tour of the county to visit all the hurling clubs and his message is: “Tthe hurling ability is here and I see no reason why Wicklow should be beaten by any other county it its grade.”
Winning the Christy Ring Cup in 2007 is Mitchell’s target for this year.
“I believe the players of ability are here in Wicklow and their attitude is both very good and positive,” he says.
The first training session under his control takes place this Sunday and he is expecting up to 40 hurlers to attend and training will commence straight after he has a meeting with them.
