Bray swoop for defender Delane
January 8, 2007
Bray Wanderers manager Eddie Gormley has made a significant addition to his squad for the 2007 season by signing experienced central defender Clive Delaney from Derry City.
Delaney helped the Candystripes to victory over St Patrick’s Athletic in the FAI Carlsberg Cup final last month, scoring a crucial goal as Derry came from behind three times to lift the trophy.
The former UCD, West Ham and St Pats player was subsequently released by new Derry boss Pat Fenlon.
His arrival at the Carlisle Grounds takes to nine the number of new signings made by Gormley over the past month, with midfielder Alan Cawley, winger David Tyrrell and former Longford Town pair Stephen Gough and Gary Cronin among the other new faces at the County Wicklow club.
