Wicklow Through Despite Late Tipp Surge

Mick O'Dwyer's Wicklow held off a strong second-half Tipperary challenge at Ardfinnan yesterday.

The wind-assisted winners were 0-9 to 0-3 ahead at the break, with Leighton Glynn and Keith O'Brien grabbing two points apiece, while three Declan Browne frees were Tipp's response.

Wicklow had some good goal chances in the first half, while Browne seemed to have been fouled for a Tipperary penalty as his punched effort hit the upright.

Browne kept Tipp in the hunt after the break. And when Benny Hickey raced through, it seemed as if they could snatch a draw, but his shot was saved by Raymond O'Donnell.
