Wicklow Hurlers Optimistic

Wednesday, April 25 2007

John Mitchell has done a fine job with Wicklow senior hurlers this season, presiding over a six-match unbeaten run which leaves them heading for Thurles on Sunday to play Laois in the Division 2 League final.

They have already beaten Laois so there's plenty optimism in the camp, even if Wicklow had a rather sobering experience in a challenge game last weekend when they lost to Kilkenny U-21s by 18 points. Quite a few senior sides would probably find Kilkenny U-21s a tough proposition but surely Wicklow would have been better off to have avoided them just a week before such an important game.
