Wicklow Captain Set to Miss Replay

Monday, May 21 2007

Wicklow skipper Paul Earls is a major doubt ahead of Sunday's Bank of Ireland Leinster SFC 1st round replay against Louth at Parnell Park.

The St Patrick's clubman sustained a foot muscle injury during the drawn game at Croke Park last weekend and is now rated a major doubt for the replay.

Earls started the game at left corner forward but dropped deep to allow wing back Leighton Glynn to push forward to good effect in the second half.

Earls, who also plays football with UCD, was replaced by fellow St Patrick's clubman John Slattery in the 65th minute after suffering the injury.

Meanwhile, Brendan O hAnnaidh is almost certainly ruled out of the meeting with the Wee County after he limped off in the 48th minute, with Paul Cronin coming on in his stead.

The Garden County are not expected to name their starting XV until Thursday evening.
