Roche Salutes Katie's Super StrikeTuesday, April 3 2007Minister Dick Roche today (3rd April '07) saluted Katie Taylor's wonder goal, which helped the Republic of Ireland beat Hungary in their first European Championship qualifier tie of the campaign to reach the finals in 2009.
Katie from Bray, who was recently crowned as the Women's Lightweight World Boxing champion, scored with a wonderful 35-yard drive after the Hungarians had taken the lead in the game, Ireland went on to win the game 2 - 1. Congratulating Katie Minister Roche said, "Katie is a magnificent sports person and has proven this yet again, Bray is proud of her, she brings sparkle and brilliance to everything she does. Given her pedigree, I think Steve Staunton should now start looking at the UEFA rulebook to see if Katie could bolster our chances in the Euro-2008 campaign as well."
