New Twist in Walsh SagaThursday, March 22 2007The Thomas Walsh transfer saga took another dramatic twist last night when Wicklow's latest attempt to complete his move from Carlow failed on a technicality.
The application came before Leinster Council but ran into difficulty when it emerged that the documentation from Wicklow didn't have the required signatory. Rule 98 states that all official correspondence to Provincial Councils in connection with county matters must come through the County Secretary. It's understood that Wicklow's documentation regarding the Walsh application came through county administrator, Michael Murphy rather than county secretary, Tom Byrne. Wicklow must now re-submit the application for a third time, having run into a problem first time out when an anomaly arose over Walsh's new address. |
