Wicklow on the March with Micko's Army
Saturday, December 1 2007
In the final, Baltinglass beat old rivals Rathnew but it was the opening championship match between St Patrick's and Shillelagh that led to the late finish of the championship.
Both clubs were involved in a protracted appeal process over the result of the match.
However, respective statements from the Shillelagh and St Patrick's clubs stated that they were not to blame for costing Wicklow a place in the Leinster club championship and that it was unfair they were being held accountable for holding up the senior championship.
While these issues and their knock-on effect are sure to have vexed O'Dwyer, he can now get down to serious training with the Garden County panel.
The Waterville legend has assembled a squad of 32 players for training, which will be held two nights each week and also on Sundays.
Wicklow's primary objective will be to climb out of the basement that is Division 4 in 2008 but the wily O'Dwyer will certainly have the May clash with Kildare in the Leinster championship foremost in his thoughts
