Bray “Terrified” of On-Form Saints

Thursday, March 29 2007

Bray Wanderers manager Eddie Gormley admits a watching brief of St Patrick’s Athletic’s Setanta Sports Cup win over Dungannon Swifts on Monday night has made him fearful of the eircom League leaders at Richmond Park tonight.

Gormley, a Saints legend from his playing days, was not at the game himself but sent a scout to Inchicore to take in his old club’s 5-0 triumph.

St Pats have scored 19 goals in their seven games to date, topping the table in both the League and Setanta Cup – and Gormley’s advisor was so impressed he left Monday’s game long before the final whistle!

The Bray boss told the Irish Daily Star: “I had someone at the Dungannon match but he left with half an hour to go.

“I rang him and said it sounded very quiet at the match. He told me he wasn’t at the game any more – if he stayed for the rest of the match he would have been terrified. They were that good.”

He added: “I feel Pats are probably the best team in the League at the moment ... I think it’s between themselves and Drogheda for the title.”
