Reduce Wicklow Class Sizes, says McManusWednesday, March 14 2007Following on a public meeting organized by teachers and parents in Co. Wicklow Liz McManus, Deputy Leader of the Labour Party and Wicklow T.D. has warmly welcomed the Labour Party initiative on reducing class size.
“I attended this public meeting on reducing class sizes in our schools and I was struck by the huge attendance of parents and teachers from Co. Wicklow. I have been pursuing this issue as a priority. I am very pleased that the Labour Party is tabling a Private Members Motion in Dáil Eireann to highlight and progress this vital issue. It is clear that the government has reneged on its promise to reduce class sizes. In Co. Wicklow we have a particularly high level of class sizes in some cases. I will be taking the opportunity to highlight the plight of schools in Co. Wicklow that have been so badly let down by the government” |
