Progress on Newtownmountkennedy Health CentreThursday, March 22 2007Dick Roche T.D., Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government has announced that he has received a commitment from the Health Service Executive that a new Heath Centre is to be built in Newtownmountkennedy.
Following representations from Minister Roche, the Health Service Executive has given approval to proceed with the provision of a new health centre. The preparation of plans and specifications are now underway and it is expected that building works will commence this May with a view to completing the works within 12 - 18 months. Minister Roche said, "I am delighted that approval has now been given to proceed with the construction of a new health centre, I am very much aware of the importance of this project for the local community. I have pressed the HSE on this matter - the old centre had deteriorated to the point that it was no longer functional, ironically this happened at a time when the town was growing rapidly - so I am happy now that Newtown is to get the facility it deserves. |
