Friday, April 20 2007

While the details of the order to grant have yet to be revealed, this announcement represents the single most important landmark planning decision to be made by the Bord in Bray, and will be the first step towards the rejuvenation of the Bray Main Street and Town Centre areas.

The announcement will be welcomed by all retail businesses in Bray Town Centre, as well as by the community of Bray. The history of this site runs over many years, and during that time the impact of non-development of the Florentyne has had a significant adverse impact on trading conditions in the town. News that the revised proposals for the Florentyne Centre as proposed by Ballymore have been granted pwill provide a dramatic boost to all stakeholders in Bray, including the existing retail base. The proposed Florentyne Centre will incorporate a mixed-use development of retail units, town centre car parking and residential apartment units. The inclusion of a significant level of town centre car parking will address the very real issue of parking availability in the town centre area for consumers.

Bray & District Chamber has consistently stated that this development must be given every opportunity to be allowed to develop. Bray Chamber is extremely pleased that the patience of all stakeholders, including the existing retail base, the business community in the town, Bray Town Council and the developers, Ballymore Properties, has resulted in this important landmark decision.

Bray & District Chamber looks forward to a speedy expedition of development on this site by Ballymore Properties, and to the opening of the Florentyne Centre as soon as practicable.
