Brady slams road conditions in Wolfetone Sq. Bray

Monday, 20 April, 2009

Sinn Fein councillor John Brady has slammed contractors for the condition in which they left the road surface in Wolfetone Sq. west following recent roadworks.

Cllr Brady stated "I have been contacted by a number of residents and motorists over the last few days in relation to the condition of the road surface in Wolfetone. When I went down I was truly shocked, the road in sections had subsided where work had been carried out leaving a very dangerous and uneven road surface."

The contractors had moved into the area in March to finish work first started over 5 years ago to install water pipes.

Cllr Brady said "After a lengthy campaign by residents to have the work that started 5 years ago finished, contractors finally restarted work in March, however work stopped 2 weeks ago and the road filled in again. The surface quickly started to subside which has resulted in a number of near traffic accidents, a car having its tyre blow out and a number of cars having their tyres damaged."

Cllr Brady concluded "The residents in the area have had to put up with a lot of trouble over the years because of this scheme. This situation needs to be resolved immediately as an issue of public safety and concern. The contractor also needs to be held to account"
