New Arklow Ship Launched

At Barkmeijer Shipyards, on Wednesday the 20th of June 2007 the thirteenth ship out of the successful series of 4500-DWT general cargo vessels was delivered to her owners, Arklow Shipping Ltd.

After the successful sea trials on Tuesday the 19th of June 2007 the 'Arklow Raven' was handed over to her new owners the next day.

The vessel 's homeport is Arklow, Co. Wicklow. The vessel is equipped for unrestricted navigation and transport of all kinds of dry cargoes. Furthermore, the vessel is laid out for the carriage of containers.

Main particulars are:
Length over all: 89.99 m.
Length between perpendiculars: 84.99 m.
Breadth (mld): 14.00 m.
Depth: 7.15 m.
Draught: 5.68 m.
Hold capacity: 209.601 cbft
Deadweight: 4500 Ton
Main engine: 1800 kW
Service speed: 12 Kn.

The “Arklow Raven” is propelled by a MAK engine, type 6M25 running on HFO380, driving a controllable pitch propeller via a reduction gearbox.

The hold is box shaped and equipped with two movable bulkheads.

The vessel is classified by Bureau Veritas with the following notation:
I + HULL + MACH general cargo ship Unrestricted navigation + AUT-UMS MON-SHAFT Heavy Cargo 105kN/m2 nonhomload 150kN/m2 (max block length 5m; minimum spacing between blocks 2m) STRENGTHBOTTOM

Furthermore provisions are made to carry certain categories of dangerous cargoes.

The "Arklow Raven" is the nineteenth general cargo vessel delivered to Arklow Shipping Ltd by Barkmeijer Shipyards. In 2007 and 2008 Barkmeijer Shipyards will deliver more in the series of 4500-DWT general cargo vessels, for Dutch and foreign contractors. In 2008 Barkmeijer Shipyards expects to deliver their first 5250 DWT dry cargo vessel to De Bock Maritiem C.V.

ARKLOW RAVEN was successfully launched after her naming on the 3rd of May 2007.
