Mottee Stone 'Invaded' by Travellers, says KellyMonday, April 30 2007One of the most famous tourist attractions in County Wicklow is once more under siege.
The Mottee Stone at Conary Avoca has once again been invaded by travellers, with locals feeling intimidated in their own homes. Cllr. Nicky Kelly, who has consistently called on Wicklow County Council to act to prevent these invasions stated there is up to 20 caravans and wagons surrounding the Mottee Stone preventing locals and visitors from accessing this Beauty Area. Calling for immediate action, Cllr Kelly said “If the Rock of Cashel or the Blarney Stone were under seige, there would be immediate action. Preventative action must be taken to permanently prevent these ongoing invasions. The Conary Community has been ignored by the Council”, he added. |
