Funding of €650,000 for Arklow HarbourFriday, March 30 2007Mr Dick Roche, T.D., Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government has welcomed funding of €650,000 from the Department of Transport for remedial works at Arklow Harbour.
This allocation brings total Government investment for works related to the harbour, in recent years, to approximately €3 million. Allocations have been for safety and remedial works at the harbour. The works envisaged under the earlier tranche of funding were port security, repairs to the old river public slipway, buoys, ladders, navigation lights, repairs for storm damage caused previously and subsidence. Speaking today Minister Roche welcomed the substantial additional funding allocated for the remedial works at the harbour. "I am delighted at this additional funding and I look forward to the early completion of the proposed works and business as usual at the harbour," he said. |
