Funding Approved for Bray PlaygroundsWednesday, August 1 2007Dick Roche TD, Minister for European Affairs has welcomed allocation of €66,000 towards the development of a new playground or the refurbishment of an existing playground in Bray's RAPID areas.
The funding is being made available under the RAPID Playground Scheme. The RAPID Playground Scheme 2008 is the latest of a group of RAPID schemes which support small scale local actions designed to help meet the needs of the local community. "As part of Fianna Fail's election manifesto we promised that play areas for all children would be a priority for us on returning to Government. Fianna Fail in Government is now honoring this commitment. Areas in Bray will have modern well equipped playgrounds which provide a safe place for children to play" said the Minister. The aim of this particular scheme is to increase the number of public play areas available to children and young people in RAPID areas. The Department of Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs and the Department of Health and Children through the Health Service Executive are funding the Scheme on a 50/50 basis. Bray RAPID area will receive ?66,000. Bray Town Council is now required to consult with each RAPID Area Implementation Team to agree the precise nature and location of the playgrounds to be funded. |
