Easter Rising Commemorations in WicklowMonday, April 9 2007Sinn Féin organised 3 very successful Easter commemorations in Co. Wicklow over the weekend.
On Saturday the annual commemoration took place in Arklow over 100 people turned out it was chaired by Sinn Féin Cllr John Brady who is also the general election candidate and the main speaker was Pat Treanor. On Sunday Blessington was the venue over 50 people where in attendance. The local church of Ireland Minister Rev. Kesh Govan said a payer with those assembled, he prayed for the brave men and women of 1916 and for all who have fought for Irish independence, he also paid tribute to the leadership of the Republican movement for there bravery over recent times. Local Sinn Féin representative Gerry O'Neill chaired the event and the main speaker was Cllr. John Brady. On Easter Monday Sinn Féin held their annual commemoration in Bray, over 150 people where in attendance. It was chaired by Marie Gavaghan and the main speaker was Cllr. John Brady. |
