Concern Over Future of Greystones Art FestivalSaturday, April 7 2007The Deputy Leader of the Labour Party, Liz McManus TD, has expressed her serious concerns that the organisers of the Greystones Art Festival may be forced to cancel this year’s festival due to lack of a main sponsor.
“It is very regrettable that the Greystones Arts Festival may have to be cancelled due to the lack of a main sponsor” said Deputy Liz McManus. “For many years the festival has been hugely successful and a great tribute must be paid to the Festival Committee who work entirely on a voluntary basis. “It would be disastrous if the organisers had to cancel this year’s festival due to lack of funding and I have contacted the County Manager in Wicklow County Council to see if any community funds are available. I have also tabled a Parliamentary Question to the Minister for Arts, Sport & Tourism seeking funding for this very worthwhile cause. |
