Olaitan Ilori, of Oak Drive, Blessington, Co Wicklow, was convicted earlier this month of knowingly facilitating the entry into the State of 12 adults from Mauritius between March and October 2004.

The 38-year-old advised them to tell immigration officers at Dublin Airport that they were tourists on a fact finding mission.

This was the first case of trafficking to come before the Circuit Criminal Court.
