Arklow Turns Out to Remember Heroes of 1916Tuesday, April 10 2007Liam Mellows Sinn Féin Cumann Arklow, held their annual Easter parade on Saturday last the 7th April 2007.
On a glorious spring day republicans from Wicklow and Wexford gathered in the Fishery area of Arklow, a place that is synonymous with the 1798 rebellion, led by the Liam Mellows Memorial Colour Party. The parade advanced to the Main Street park where the guests of honour, Sinn Féin Election Candidate Cllr. John Brady and Monaghan Republican Cllr. Pat Treanor addressed the crowd. Local Sinn Féin rep Adrian O’ Reilly commented that, “Arklow is steeped in Republican History and the challenge ahead is to get Cllr. John Brady elected as a TD for Co. Wicklow, to bring equaility and social justice to the Garden County“. |
