The Minister said, "I am very pleased to give the Council approval to seek tenders on this project and I would urge the Council to advertise for tenders as quickly as possible so that works can commence as soon as possible." The Minister added, "the refurbishment of Vartry Heights estate has been one of my highest priorities as Minister for the Environment, Heritage & Local Government and I am delighted that we are now on the final road to having works commenced." The proposed refurbishment works to the houses include central heating installation, the replacement of windows and doors and kitchenware, rewiring, replacing eaves, gutters and downpipes, and internal decoration. External works may be undertaken to the privately owned houses on the basis of an agreement of 50/50 shared cost between the private householders and the Council. |
