Atheist/Non-believer?
Sir,
In the most recent census (2002) there were over 138,000 people who claimed to have no religion in Ireland. A further 79,000 didn’t even acknowledge a religious affiliation. Individually and combined both of these figures outnumber many smaller religious groups in this country. The non-religious are a vastly under-represented and misunderstood group in our society. In Ireland the dividing line between church and state remains blurred. Beyond it the principles underpinning stable democratic government are being challenged. If you would like to be part of the efforts to change this then it’s time to organise.
