Spring Equinox at Wicklow's 'Gossan Stones'
March 21st marks the vernal or spring equinox. Archaeologist Chris Corlett has found out the 'Gossan Stones', which are positioned on a ridge between Paddock Hill and Scar Mountain in the Wicklow Mountains, are positioned to frame the sun as it rises on the morning of the spring equinox.

Hill Walking in Wicklow
Traditionally in County wicklow, hill walking was confined to sheep farmers who would spend days at a time walking the mountains to keep a check on their flocks. However, walking the mountains of Glenmalure and West Wicklow has almost become an addiction with both locals and visitors.

Wicklow's Coastal Border
County Wicklow is known for its mountains and is called the Garden County after the gentle valleys and woodlands of the lowlands. But there's another part of the county that isn't emphasised nearly as much - the 50 miles of varied and beautiful coastline that form Wicklow's eastern border.

For those who live in the Garden County it is only natural that many of its attractions can be taken for granted. Often it is only when entertaining visitors from overseas or from elsewhere in Ireland that we appreciate what we have in Wicklow.
