Chris Browne Poetry Page A page dedicated to the work of Arklow poet Chris Browne. It has a wide selection of his poetry, including a poem about Arklow, prefaced with a personal introduction. Adele King's Page Wicklow-based Adele King has local photographs from around Glendalough, Co. Wicklow, and these are available on Greeting Cards to buy. Nicola Lindsay's Page Nicola is a poet, author and broadcaster living in Bray. Her site contains a profile and a bibliography with plenty of examples of her work. The Michael O'Connor Gallery A website from Arklow artist Michael O'Connor with examples of his portrait paintings and landscapes (many of Arklow scenes), and a biography. There's also plenty of details on purchasing work - online, if you wish. Peter Growney This is the website of Bray-based artist Peter Growney. There are plenty of photographs of his oils, watercolours, pen & ink drawings, and pastels & pencil works with news of exhibitions and more. Stanley Pettigrew The site of landscape artist Stanley Pettigrew. Stanley exhibits regularly in Wicklow and many of his landscapes are of Wicklow scenes. Martin Shiels Home Page Details of the work of Ashford artist Martin Shiels. The page includes pictures of his work, his CV, information on exhibitions and awards, and a personal statement. 'Seascapes' by Eileen Timmins This on-line gallery of Tinhealy artist Eileen Timmins is simple but effective. Well worth a look. Robert Mullan's Site This is an excellent site from Arklow photographer Robert Mullan. It's got plenty of examples of his work, including portraits, landscapes and even infra-red photographs - many of the Wicklow area. (Back to Top) Irishsongwriters.net This is a group, based in Wicklow town, who organise open Mike nights for songwriters to perform their original material. Their website has information about their events and much more - even a discussion forum, and offers promotion and support for songwriters. Arklow Pipe Band Arklow Pipe Band were All-Ireland champions in their grade in both 1993 and1994. Their site contains a band history, lots of photographs and details of their annual visit to Lorient in France Arklow Silver Band (Armitage Shank) Arklow Silver band have been in existence since1968. Their site contains photographs through the years and details about their new CD. Check out the musical introduction when you first open the site. Bray Choral Society The website of the Bray Choral Society. They've got information here about their history, their achievments and upcoming events. Bray Jazz Festival This millennium event is over. It was very good! Craobh Anne Devlin The Anne Devlin Traditional Music Group from Aughrim holds classes in traditional Irish music every Friday night at 8pm (everyone welcome!) in the Old School in Aughrim. Their website has been recently updated and contains plenty of information about the group The Boathouse CCE Wicklow Town's Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann Branch! It's many activities include classes in traditional Irish music, Irish dancing and set dancing and regular music seisiúns Greystones Arts Festival The festival takes place over the August bank holiday weekend and this year will be celebrating it's 21st year. The site contains details of events that will be taking place over the weekend as well as info on workshops for activities such as stilt walking and samba drums. John Breen Arklow born Wicklow resident singer/songwriter John Breen recently signed to Alternative-Urban records/Atlanta Music Group in the USA and recorded his debut CD at AMG's studio in Atlanta early 2004 under the direction of renowned producer Steven Hawkins. His site has plenty of information and you can listen to tracks of his great music. Just Wood Just Wood is a new band from Arklow formed last year. Lots of info on this site. Including band members profiles, details of previous and upcoming gigs. You can book them online too. Toucha Brass A comprehensive site from Wicklow band Toucha Brass, formerly Inbhear Mór Jazz, who play a wide variety of music suitable for pub gigs, parties, weddings etc.. The site has details of the band members, their upcoming gigs, photos and more. Van Morrison's 'Streets of Arklow' "And our souls were clean, And the grass did grow" - The lyrics to the song about Arklow from Van the Man. Vawn’s Belly Dance Site Feel like a taste of the Orient? Then check out this site. Vawn is a professional bellydancer and choreographer who has performed all over the world. She also holds dance workshops and you can even order her video online. All sorts on information on their facilities and credits (Alan Parker's 'The Commitments' was shot here). County Wicklow Film Commission Wicklow is dead famous with all the film and TV shows shot here. This site has the Wicklow Film Commission Fesability Study Report - June 1999 and links to sites of Braveheart and other films made in the Garden County. World of Epic Movies This website is dedicated to Hollywood movies made from the 1930s to the 1960s. Designed and maintained by Arklow man, Chris Browne, his site is full of reviews and comments of classic movies from yesteryear. Their comprehensive website has all the details along with comments from past students and lots of photographs. 'The Cave' Creative Arts Venture This looks like lots of fun for kids of all ages. This is an art project based in Wicklow town with all sorts of artistic activities and lots of photos of people having fun doing art. Irish School of Landscape Painting Based in Ashford, each summer the School offers courses in some of Ireland's most breathtaking locations. The site contains class schedules and a gallery. You can book online too. The Tinahely Courthouse Centre A beautiful site with information on visual arts, travelling theatre and music. It also has up-to-date schedules of events and you can contact them by email. (Back to Top) Belinda Brayshaw Pottery Belinda Brayshaw Pottery makes hand-crafted pottery and earthenware ceramics in Wicklow. The site includes a newsletter and information on pottery. You get a 5% discount through the site. B & L Timmons Based in Arklow, these guys have been in the Picture Framing business for over 18 years. But their site also contains a section where local and national artists, can show off their work to the rest of the World. Wicklow Writers Group A group of creative writers established in January 2001, in Wicklow Town. Within their first year they launched Humanity, an anthology of poems and short stories. They meet fortnightly on Monday evenings at 8pm in the Leitrim lounge, in Wicklow Town, and all newcomers are welcome. Wicklow Arts Directory and Database The website of Wicklow County Council's Arts Office. This site includes information on the arts office and council arts facilities and events.
