But for some wayward shooting Carlow should have went in comfortably ahead at the break. The Wicklow half forward line and midfield were awol for most of the game. Stevie Cushe and Leighton Glynn were outstanding in their half back positions, Alan Kelly did well at Corner back. Tommy Gill impressed in the number 11 shirt and Paul Phibbs made an impression when brought on as a sub. JP Dalton, J.Kelly, J.Daniels in the forwards were totally ineffective and cahnges will have to be made, Paul Earls showed some flashes of pace, but made little enough impression. At midfield, Stafford and Behan were out of it for most of the game. Micko needs some forwards, badly. The team displayed a lot of the old wicklow faults in the first half, running into cul de sacs , giving the ball away, not penetrating enough. But a win is a win and this is Mickos first game at the helm. Carlow certainly surprised me. They were game and physical and showed Wicklow up on more than several occasions! It's good to see a crowd of 5,000 turn up for an O'Byrne cup game. The team came from behind twice and showed some spirit. I don't think we will worry Wexford next week, based on this outing, but lets see. Sports Fan - Saturday, January 06, 2007 at 17:41:24 (GMT) way to go wicklow!!!!!!
