Soccer Scene Set for Classic Wicklow Cup Final
June 9th, 2001
A classic Wicklow cup final is on the cards when Enniskerry Youth Club A and Rathnew AFC meet in the decider on Sunday in Lamberton, Arklow at 3 p.m. on Sunday next.
Both sides are considered to be the two best teams in the county at present and each one will battle to the bitter end in order to prove supremcy. The respective managers, Joe Ronan of Rathnew and Tommy Leonard from Enniskerry are each claiming that they can take home the Aughrim Motors Skoda Cup.
However, there is intense rivalry between the two teams, a rivalry which has reached boiling point on a number of occasions when Rathnew and Enniskerry met in the past. However, they also have a healthy respect for each other and may show an element of discipline during Sunday's game.
