Rathdrum Boys Are All-Ireland Champions

A basketball team from Avondale Community became All-Ireland `Time Out' champions following a great victory over St. Aidan's College, Coothill in the final at the Basketball Arena in Dublin.

Ireland before reaching the final, had a long wait for the ultimate game which was postponed due to the foot and mouth precautions.
Playing like true champs, the boys became heroes of their school and town in this game and never really seemed to be in any real danger at any stage. Coached by Catheriona Hanafin the team members were - Eamonn Kearns, Shane McGrath, Shane Burch, Fiach O'Toole, Mark McDonald, Derek McMullen, Martin Madden, Ross Turner, Matthew Cleere, P.J. Brady and Philip Maskcu.
