Children's Community Games Medal Presentation

The Brittas Bay, Barndarrig, Kilbride, & Redcross children's medal presentation was held on Friday 28th September in the GAA hall, Wicklow town. There was a great turn out for this spectacular event, one of the highlights in the calendar year of the Community. Over 150 children in our Community received medals for their successful participation at Area level in a wide range of events including: Quiz, Art & Make & Model, Indoor Soccer, Athletics, Swimming, Basketball, Table Tennis, Draughts, Chess, Cross Country & Project.

Many of the Children successfully competed at County level in these events with 7 representing BBK&R at National Level.

Linda Dempsey, Kevin Cullen(Art), Karl Townsend Smyth(make & Modle), Kevin Dempsey, Jonathan Delahunt(Athletics), Maeve Delahunt, Jack Bolger(Swimming), Congratulations again to Jonathan Delahunt who took home a Silver Medal, in the Boys under 8yrs - 60 mtrs.

Congratulations to both teams who represented BBK&R in Leinster, including: 1. Under 10yr Draughts Team: Ciaran Byrne, Kevin Dempsey, Eamonn Gaffney, Andrew Cullen, Peter Bolger,: subs Orlagh Byrne, Niamh Ward. 2. Under 16yrs Table Tennis Team: Robert Manson, Christian Manson and Adam Kirwin.

Special Awards on the night include: Community Spirit.. to .. Pauline Delahunt & David O Sullivan. Dedication Award for indoor Soccer.. to .. Emmet Bunn. Oisin Cooney Award.. to .. Linda Dempsey. Graham Donohue Award .. to.. Emma Graham. Excellence & Work .. to .. Ellen Nolan Recognition of Community participation. .. to .. Sineva & Angelina Nolan.

Present on the night were: George & Mary O Toole (National President),Lily Kavanagh (County President),Michael Kenny(County Chairman), Shelia Driver(County vice Chairman). Medals were presented also by Councillors Nicky Kelly (Arklow), James O Shaughnessy (Chairman WCC), Pauline Donohue and Connor Maguire. Our thanks go to the Sponsors, including: VEC, St Vincent De Paul, Judge Maguire and wife Catriona, Violet Williams and 2 private donations.
