Bray Wanderers 1
Coventry City 1
Bray Wanderers friendly against Coventry City last Sunday proved to be a tense affair with the English first division side only managing to draw with a late penalty kick depriving the Bray club of a memorable win. The English club arrived at the Carlisle grounds bringing two consecutive wins over their Irish counter parts UCD (3-00) and Dublin City (2-0) but were stopped in their tracks when Wanderers went ahead midway through the first half and in doing so igniting the atmosphere from the home side spectators.
Stephen Fox was the home side man who opened the scoreboard with a fantastic kick into the bottom left hand corner despite the near
successful efforts of Coventry's Carlton Palmer to prevent him scoring. This drove the home crowd wild and the Seasiders looked a confident and composed professional side willing to take chances as they presented themselves but always maintaining a good defence.
A late penalty score by the visitors under somewhat controversial circumstances brought the scores level and deprived Wanderers of victory over the first division English side. Supporters Club, "Man of the match" went deservedly to Stephen Fox with great performances from Mick Doohan, Jason Byrne and Matt Britton.
