as his opponent has dropped down in weight to qualify for the welterweight category and this can only work to Moore's advantage. Speaking on East Coat Radio this morning James Moore senior was confident of his sons ability and hopefully the outcome will be a win for the Arklow boxer later today.
Locally, there was further good news for Arklow Boxing Club with the announcement that it is to receive £30,000 from the National Lottery Sports Grants. The committee, particularly Jim Moore, has been very vocal in seeking this money to carry out much needed repairs to the clubhouse.
The building needs, among many other things, needs a new floor and it is much to the credit of the members that they have been able to continue activity under bad conditions. The funding was secured by Minister of State Joe Jacob with the Sports Minister Jim McDaid last year. While the money was in place, it could not be handed out due to the drugs testing row between the Minister and the boxing authority.
