Historical Wicklow town Facility used as a Public Toilet - Council

The historical `Doctors Steps' in Wicklow town that provide a short cut
from Main Street to South Quay is used as a public toilet at night, it
was revealed by members of the local Urban Council at their monthly meeting
last night.
While the steps will be closed for a short period of time to allow work
to be carried out in the area a suggestion at the meeting that access
be closed each night was knocked on the head by the majority of members.
Councillor John O'Brien said he was totally against access being cut
off for safety reasons. If there was a fire on the Main Street and people
needed to get to South Quay quickly their way would be blocked.
Instead, it was decided to erect lights there in the hope that they
would act as a deterrent to people who used the area for toilet purposes.
