Illegal Dumper To Face Jail Sentence and Fines.

County Wicklow man Andy Phipps was sentenced to eighteen months imprisonment and fined a total of four thousand five hundred pounds on charges of illegal dumping at Naas District Court on Tuesday. The prosecution was taken by Wicklow County Council against Mr Phipps of Hempstown, Blesington County Wicklow who had recently pleaded guilty to three summonses on September 26th. He was brought before the District Court in Naas for sentencing.

Murrough Connellan who handed out six months imprisonment on each of the related offences which had occurred on the defendants own property at Hempstown. The offences were outlined as pleading guilty to undertaking recovery of waste materials at a facility contrary to the waste management act ,on March 27th and May 24th of this year.
Additionally he pleaded guilty to failing to comply with an order stop accepting waste materials and removing the waste to an authorised landfill site and restoring the land in question as required by law. On top of the sentencing and fines Judge Murrough Connellan also made an order for six thousand pounds in costs against the defendant
