Almost the entire village of Roundwood turned out today to pay their last respects to the local mother and daughter who lost their lives in a tragic road crash near Kilternan at the week-end. Three month old Liadan Hall died instantly in the accident while her mother Deirdre, who was placed on a life support machine, was pronounced dead on Sunday night.

The accident occurred on the Enniskerry road on Saturday afternoon. The driver of the second car was taken to St. Vincents hospital with serious injuries but it was not thought that they were life threatening.
The tragedy has stunned the village of Roundwood where the Hall family has played an integral role in community life since the 1970’s. Deirdre was married to Tiernan Hall and the couple had lived in America for a couple of years before returning to a settled life in Roundwood.
Tiernan’s parents, Arthur and Maire Hall have played a huge role in the village and county, especially in G.A.A. circles, since their arrival to Wicklow. They were instrumental in building the G.A.A. community sports complex in the village and the raising of football standards in the An Tochar club.
A number of week-end football fixtures were cancelled as a result of the tragedy including the county championship semi-final between An Tochar and Bray Emmets which was due to take place on Sunday last.
