Two non-nationals were charged last night at a special sitting of Wicklow District Court following an incident in Carnew over the week-end in which a local man received stab wounds.
The men, who are believed to be from Portugal, were charged with assaulting Matthew Travers in Carnew on Saturday night last. They were remanded in custody and it is expected that further and more serious charges will be preferred against the men at a later date.
Mr. Travers was removed to hospital following the incident on the Main Street in Carnew and his is still being treated for the injuries sustained.
