Thursday, August 9th, 2001
Deputy Billy Timmins, Fine Gael has slammed the County Manager over his failure
to date to facilitate the Aughrim GAA Club in their efforts to develop a
juvenile pitch on lands adjoining the community field. He stated that the
Managers attempt to paint those who support the GAA's cause as anti housing, as

Deputy Timmins has requested the Council to redesign the development

with a view
to incorporating some of the lands set aside for industrial development and to
acquire additional land on the Rathdrum or Arklow roads for industrial use.
He pointed out that this end of the Village is the only place suitable for pitch
development and is the least suitable for industrial development. If adjustments
are not made to the plan at this stage it will not be possible to rectify the
situation in the future.
