Mildred Fox Describes Newspaper Report on Neon Signs as `Rubbish'

A scurrilous national newspaper article claiming that Deputy Mildred Fox was told by Wicklow County Council to remove neon-signs on the N11 that call for number one votes for her was described by the Deputy today as `rubbish'.
The signs, normally used to warn speeding motorists, were erected in a number of key areas along the N11 including the Glen of the Downs, the Bray/Greystones road and the Rathnew/Arklow road and have been flashing for the past few days.
`I removed the sign at the Glen of the Downs because I accept that it could be a distraction for motorists. However, I am delighted that the signs have been seen by so many people and they obviously have proven to be too effective for some political parties and candidates who have decided to run to the papers', Deputy Fox told East Coast FM today.
She pointed out that the Council did investigate the signs but did not issue any directive to remove them. `Its amazing how some people become jealous and envious when someone comes up with a better idea than them', said Deputy Fox.
