Independent T.D. Mildred Fox has criticised the way in which Dublin Corporation has treated Wicklow householders in Glencormac and Kilmacanogue who have suffered several cuts to their water supply in recent months. Although located in Wicklow, the area is served by the Dublin Corporation water mains.
Roadworks on the N11 along with an aging pipe network has meant the water supply has been shut off for as long as a week. Acording to deputy Fox this has occured with minimal notice and contingency plans have been very poor. Local residents are angry at the situation and want a change in the management of water supplies tot he area with more consultation with local people.
"It is completely unacceptable for Dublin Corporation, or Wicklow County Council and their contractors to treat householders in this manner", said deputy Fox. "I am calling on both local authorities to work together to ensure that basic services such as the water supply are available".
