Investigations into an illegal dump in West Wicklow are almost complete, even though parts of the file on the matter are still missing, county Manager Eddie Sheehy has confirmed.
"The examination of the site at Whitestown is completed while the Gardai investigation into the matter is also finished.

Appropriate action will be taken as soon as all reports are examined", he told members of the county council yesterday.
However Mr. Sheehy also revealed that a "major contractor" was invited to meet council officials in relation to dumping on the site, but he declined the offer. "However we feel that there is sufficient evidence to sustain a case and I have engaged senior and junior counsel to act for this authority, he added.
Asked by deputy Liz McManus if the important letter from the Bailey family, who live near the dump, was found the manager said that it was still missing. "Even without the letter there is a very detailed file on Whitestown which is more than sufficient to sustain legal proceedings", he said.
