elected chairman in succession of Councillor Jimmy O'Shaughnessy.
Deputy Timmins said that on several occasions in the past year he had tried to contact Cllr. O'Shaughnessy but found that he was regularly travelling along the highways and byways of the county.
`The position has now become a very onerus task but there are no more resources available than there were years ago. It is time that the chairman was given a personal secretary at least', he added.
Cllr. O'Shaughnessy, in paying tribute to the help given to him by local authority staff and management, said that the position may well have to become a full time role in future.
Cllr. Blake was asked to move things in that direction during his term in office so that future holders of the position would have more resources available to them.
