By Tony Murphy
Fortune has again smiled down on a Rathdrum agent for the National Lottery
where two jackpot winning tickets and numerous cash wins have been sold
over the lifetime of this popular national pastime.
Murphy/Cahills on Main Street sold a Winning Streak ticket to local man
Tony Hagan from Ballygannon and his name was drawn on last weeks show to
appear on the programme on this coming Saturday night.
An employee of the Schering-Plough company in Rathdrum, Tony got the shock
of his life when his name was drawn from the drum on Saturday. He is looking
forward to attending Saturday night's show but is not building up his homes
on winning a huge amount of money.
However, the owners of the store, Dick Murphy and Lily Cahill are thrilled
with Brian's good fortune and are hoping that he will do very well on the
show. For them, Tony's fortune is another example of the luck that has emanated
from their agency over the years.
They twice sold jackpot winning tickets, the largest amount going to local
girl Anne Keogh who scooped a whopping 1.7 million pounds. In the early
days of the show, three customers were drawn out to spin the wheel. At that
time the show was not televised and there were no games surrounding the
event. |
