Instant Lotto Millionaire from Kilcoole in Disbelief at her LuckTuesday, January 8th, 2002By Tony Murphy Lady Luck smiled down on Kilcoole lady, Jeanette Harris three times last Saturday when she became Ireland's first Euro lotto millionaire, collecting a jackpot of €2,481,957 million plus an additional €1,344 for getting five numbers twice. Jeanette and her family collectively came up with the numbers and then played them in Kilcoole Post Office. It was not until late on Saturday night that Jeanette realised her good fortune when she checked the numbers of RTE's Aertel.
A native of Greystones but now living in Kilcoole, Jeanette collected her winnings in the National Lottery offices yesterday accompanied by her mother, Eileen Harris, her sister Anne McLoughlin, youngest son John aged 10 and her partner, Vincent Breen. She has two other sons, Vincent aged 15 and 9 year old Martin. The lucky lady works in the La Touche hotel, Greystones but is now considering her options for the future and may decide to take a well earned rest from the employment world. `Its hard to believe I've won. I have been playing the lotto since it began but to win the jackpot and two match five prizes on the same night is unbelievable. It has not really sunk in yet and I am telling myself it is only money and it is not going to change the person I am. I can now plan a great future for the boys', she said. Jeanette will this week be celebrating with her entire family including her five sisters, Anne, Olivia, Sharon, Yvonne and Samantha. |
