Garda patrols along with the Garda helicopter were quickly on the scene and are carrying out an extensive search of the town for the raiders. Eyewitnesses pointed out this evening that the two intruders spoke with `local accents’.
Customers in the busy Post Office were stunned when the men burst their way through the queues to carry out the raid. The entire robbery lasted less than a minute as the men made a quick getaway with the cash.
Apart from a detailed search of the town and surrounding areas, the Garda Air Support Unit was called in to help in the investigation.
