Body of Man Found in Van on Sally Gap

February 13th, 2002

By Tony Murphy

A man was found dead in a van on Sally Gap yesterday evening. Gardai were called to the scene following a report that an elderly man was slumped behind the wheel of a van in the Sally Gap area.

Near Where the body was found
When they opened the vehicle it was discovered that the man, who is believed to be from the Kilmacanogue area, was dead. Dr. Jim Leitch from Rathdrum attended at the scene before the body was taken to St. Columcille’s hospital in Loughlinstown for a post mortem examination.

Gardai are satisfied that there were no further suspicious circumstances relating to the tragedy but were awaiting the results of the post mortem to confirm the cause of death. It is also clear that the driver was not involved in an accident.
